How to Install Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 on PC
- Download the game and save it to your PC.
- Right-click the downloaded file and select “Extract Here” or “Extract to folder” using WinRAR or any similar tool.
- Wait for the extraction process to complete.
- Once done, open the extracted folder.
- Run
!start_sp26.batto start the game.

Extract the files, open the folder, copy everything, and paste it into the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 root folder, replacing existing files when prompted.

On v1 release, i forgot to re-add a static SteamID into configs.user.ini which causes the emu (or the game) to regenerate random SteamID upon game exit that causes the existing save files to not get loaded on the next game boot. Re-adding it back in v2 fixes it.
But if you’ve already progressed enough in the campaign and want to restore your old progress without starting over, then follow this steps:
– Navigate to “C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Activision\Call of Duty\players”
– Take a note of the SteamID of the numbered folder (the oldest created) that contains your already existing save files
– Open configs.user.ini in both “sp26\steam_settings\” and “sp26\steam_settings\local_saves\settings\” and put the SteamID that you’ve noted earlier on “account_steamid”
– Done

game is not saving..playted for 2 hours came back and got New game screen again
found on reddit regarding game saves
once you start the game again it generates another steamID.
Go to C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Activision\Call of Duty\players and note the steamID (the oldest one created) and copy it.
Go back to where you have the game installed and open:
\sp26\steam_settings\configs.user.ini and paste the ID that you copied after account_steamid=
Then go to:
\sp26\steam_settings\local_saves\settings\configs.user.ini and paste the steamID replacing the current one.
Set the files to readonly, start the game as admin and you’re back to where you left.

The textures appear at low resolution
turn off ray tracing option.
Fix for textures in low resolution I found it and it helped me
1. Open the terminal from the game folder (right-click in the folder -> Open in terminal or open cmd)
cmd /c mklink /J “sp26\xpak_cache” “%CD%\xpak_cache”
2. Go sp26/steam_settings and open configs.main.ini
3. add this (should look like this);
[main::connectivity]
disable_lan_only=1
offline=0
If anyone is still stuck with “New Game” after modifying the
.inifiles, try this solution:C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Activision\Call of Duty\playersplayersfolder (created by the launcher/emulator), open them and paste/overwrite all your save files directly into all of those numbered folders.This forces the game to find your save files regardless of which SteamID/folder the emulator actually reads!
